JB Cricket is my endeavour to be every brilliant coach, trainer and mentor that I ever had. A great teacher can instil behaviours and skills to enable confidence, success. and even inspire a career! Whether you choose a series of 1-1 sessions or attend my courses and academies, I aspire to nurture any ability.
I've been playing cricket for as long as I can remember. My grandad made me my first bat at 18 months old and I spent my childhood travelling from local ground to local ground watching my dad play for Bury St Edmunds Cricket Club (BSECC). From that point on there was no going back. Despite all of the broken windows and balls retrieved from next door's garden, I kept improving and played for various age groups for both BSECC and Suffolk County Cricket Club. (SCCC)
My career really began when I signed my first professional contract with Essex County Cricket Club (ECCC) at the age of 16. I was lucky enough to experience 8 seasons, 7 test matches and 9 one-day internationals with the Under-19 England team. I also enjoyed several overseas adventures as a professional at Claremont CC in Cape Town, as well as touring with England U-19s and British Universities to Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia and South Africa. Following this, I moved back to where it all started, captaining both SCCC and BSECC.
I retired from playing cricket in 2016 due to the impending birth of my second child, but my love of the game proved too powerful and I now happily play for BSECC again in the second team. It was returning to BSECC as a mature player and my current career as a Sports Educator and Level 2 coach, that inspired me to create JB Cricket - to support the next generation (and older!).
